Great service! September 8, 2010 Michelle N. Baker I love love love my Kindle! I bought it last year and I have loved it since then. I recently had a problem with my Kindle, and I called the service support. AMAZING! I have never left a review before but after reading some of the horror stories I just wanted to let everyone know that the customer service was amazing and in a matter of 15 minutes I had a new one shipped! I just want to thank Amazon for their great service! It is especially helpful since I just found out I will be deploying soon! THANK YOU AMAZON!!!
I like it but ... September 7, 2010 Suzanne Prescott (Albuquerque, NM USA) I received a refurbished unit with instructions to plug it to charge it up but there was no power plug on the end of the cord. It took 5 calls or emails to straighten this out, amounting to over a week with the Kindle but no way to use it. That seems a bit much. The service techs were polite and wanted to help but it seemed to take time to find the right person and to straighten out the problem. Once I had the Kindle working, I enjoyed it. This product is evolving. Let's see how well it does in competition with Nook (better IMO) and IPad (Kindle will have to work some to maintain market share with the IPad around.)
I purchased a skin and a cover which are essential for protecting the Kindle.

I liked this product a lot more before I found out there was a new version that was smaller with more contrast and $50.00 cheaper. I would have waited a month had I known.
Kindle a bummer September 7, 2010 Bman883 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Nice enough e-reader but the inability to access library books is a bummer. Why "buy" a book and not be able to share it. I can loan a hard copy of a purchased book to anybody. This product is way to restrictive. I returned it! Amazon e-books are very expensive. I don't get it....no printing or distribution cost.
Reading Ease September 7, 2010 Butch Primary reason for purchase was for travel. We spend months at a time in the RV and it is nice not to haul the extra weight of books since we are avid readers. Very easy to browse, order, and download. And we can still highlight and bookmark passages we want to reread. We can still receive our Readers Digest and an added benefit of receiving our daily newspaper. There have been some complaints about the lack of pictures in the paper but we want the news so we are satisfied. Very easy to use and instructions are easy to understand. I truly appreciate the dictionary always being at hand. My only complaint is the "joy stick". I have tremors and this is very small and sensitive to touch. I sometimes have to go foward and back before being able to highlight the item I need. Frustrating but not a big problem. Overall we are very satisfied. They came out with the latest upgrade a few days after we bought this. I understand the problem I mentioned has been improved.
